A hybrid mobile app for the best shopping experience in Switzerland
Coop, largest swiss grocery retailer
Coop Group – a well-known supermarket in Switzerland – developed from a small consumer cooperative to an international retail business over the past 150 years.
Various sales formats as well as wholesale and manufacturing companies have been established. Around 90’000 employees are committed to the success of Coop.
Consolidating multiple mobile apps into one
The new app should increase Coop Group online sales by a substantial share. It enhances the shopping experience thanks to a seamless transaction process from inspiration to checkout.
Upon starting the project, the main challenges and concerns were:
- First hybrid-based app for Coop
- Consolidating wide brand and product landscape into one solution
- Complex architecture with many systems and APIs to integrate
One Inside collaborated with Coop all the way from technical conception, engineering to go-live. During this joint effort, we were able to contribute with our profound app experience.
State of the art mobile shopping experience
The project started with a consulting phase, where One Inside helped define the technical foundation of the all-new Coop app. Our expertise revealed important activities and challenges in the early stage of the project.
The desired build and delivery pipeline for various staging environments was elaborated and established next. One Inside also helped Coop set up internal app distribution via Microsoft AppCenter.
The Coop app sets new standards within its landscape as well as in hybrid app engineering:
- The most recent version of Ionic framework, serving Android and iOS from one codebase
- Supporting multiple staging environments
- APIs and SDKs integrated as Hybris, Firebase and barcode scanner
Coop launched the new app in June 2020. Coop will be further enhancing the app and incrementally adding features.
